C-TBS

During the lock down, the C-TBS has been active but to a minimal percentage. Only 7 of our students have been able to continue with their school work, mainly because they have access to computers,so they can receive, read and send back information to us by emailing and other means.

During this month of June we( C-TBS Staff) have been holding meetings to pray/discuss how we can better include a bigger number back into their bible study work. And starting July, the Old Testament class in Mukono will be able to resume their classes as we also start looking at the New Testament class that we run at Bweyogerere.

The New Testament class needs more time in classroom teaching and one on one interactions as we had just introduced them to the inductive approach when we where locked down.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION.

Few days after the Lock down was announced in Uganda, there was a lot of panic and anxiety in most families in Uganda mainly because of the parents concern about how they were to feed their families. CMM through our friends (Supporters)has been able to help purchase and give some amounts of food mostly to the parents/families of our CMM sponsored children. This has been appreciated so much by the mothers and grand mothers and our CMM children.

April Update.

We CMM always thank God for all our friends/ co-workers in Christ for your continuous love, support, and encouragement to us. God has always used you to encourage us to reach out to our brothers and sisters here in Uganda, and we pray that even in this period of COVID-19 the hand of God will always be upon you, your families, and relatives to protect you and to keep you well.

Last month, in our report, we did present to you a brief idea as to how some of our CMM members are doing and how they spend their day.

On top of us spending more time with our families, all our members are in touch with other church members too regularly communicating and praying together in small allowed groups, on the phone, Emails, and other communication means.

As we report today, The COVID 19 positive cases are 230, 63 have recovered well.

All the latest cases are coming in mostly because of the Truck drivers bringing in cargo in and out from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan.

Our main concern today would be that the positive cases remain small so that they do not overwhelm the Ugandan Health System.

We reported last time, the need for food mostly and other basic needs for most families. Most of our people here can only cater for one day’s needs and only if they are working. Now its 2months since the Lockdown, The biggest cry for most of the people are food mostly and basic needs. The day most people stopped working, they stopped earning therefore many are in the food crisis.

Will you please pray for us too along those lines.

CMM children receiving foodstuffs

We as CMM are working together with our co-workers in Victoria-Canada. The Uganda partnership society (TUPS) have so far been able to help buy some but minimal amounts of food to mostly the families where our CMM sponsored kids come from. This help has been so much appreciated by our mothers and grandmothers that take care of our CMM sponsored children.

It is still our desire and prayer that we will continue to help even more as much as the Lord will enable us. Please keep praying with us along those lines too.

C-T.B.S

By March 2020

We were running three Bible classes in different locations with altogether more than 55 students. Some in the Old testament and others in New testament.

When the lockdown started around 20th March, the N.T class could not continue at all as the students were still very much in their primary stages of understanding the “inductive approach” and hey very much needed a lot of one to one guidance on top of the class lectures. So the N.T was put completely on hold.

Among the O.T students, 7 have continued to do their work mostly by themselves but with some help with either E.mail, phone calls o other means of communication. And those who have continued is mostly because they have access to a computer and therefore they can receive information, read/study and keep going.

20200520_091740

Dan doing his personal studies / C-TBS work at his office.

We are receiving very encouraging feedback from this group yet it is our prayer that the lockdown will end soon so we can catch up with our other students too. We have followed the work of these 7 and it is very impressive.

And on top of grading their work and communicating with them, we always/ regularly share prayer needs for them and their flocks since they are pastors of different churches.

And mostly our discussions and prayers are along lines of food or medical needs for this or that family. And as we discuss and pray, in some desperate cases we have tried and raised help to some of such families.

Please keep praying for these and other pastors too along those lines. And we pray that the Lord will continue to keep you and your families safe and growing in Him.

With greetings and appreciation from all our CMM  team members.

God bless.

March Additional Update.

Greetings to all our friends/co-workers. As you will be aware, Uganda like many other countries is on the lockdown therefore very few essential activities can take place nationwide.

We too, as the CMM team to a big extent spend most of our time at home. In this report, we are letting you know how things are going on with some of our individual CMM families during the lockdown season.

Kato Edward’s Family.

Our family is comprised of 5 members; Kato Edward, Nambatya Diana Kato, Namata Abigail Earon, Muwanguzi Hansen Ssenyondo, Nabirye Janipher.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-23 at 13.21.58

The Katos.

Since March, we are at home since its lockdown all over the country. We use most of this time to bond with the children since we were a bit busy before the lockdown. We get time to pray, play, and do different things together.

At first, Diana was too much scared about this COVID-19 until we heard a message from the pastor at Watoto that “Jesus Christ is above all thing and will surely take us through so be strong”.

In order to keep ourselves safe, we pray for our health, we boost our vitamin B by drinking lemon juice and eating fruits. We always sanitize, wash our hands, and stay at home.

What we have been doing is praying for others and helping some people financially with the little that we have.

Our prayer request is that God continues to provide for our family through this trying moment.

Byamugisha Richard’s Family.

Thank God the lockdown announcement found us all home as a family otherwise it’s been complicated for those that traveled since they’ve had to stay where they are until circumstances change.

Much of the time has been for personal reflection and family ministry. Since the Lockdown crisis, we laid a program for a family alter, personal prayer time, bible study, playtime, home chores, and online ministry.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.08.59 (1)

Family time.

Since my family is very young, we start our day with the family alter at 7am. Each adult member has a day to share the word from the bible, that’s Mary, Isaac, my wife Molly, and myself. We then share prayer requests and end the prayer time.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.08.59

Prayer time.

We then embark on Breakfast which is normally at 8:30am. Mary and Isaac go for home classes which are supervised by either me or my wife. The class usually takes 2hrs and they join their friends to play. Our vicinity is comprised of staff members, where my wife Molly teaches, with their families. So we have a total of 12 children in one location. Luckily we all agreed on the health standards for that crisis. We usually have a clear program of lunch and supper till evening where we converge at 8pm and wrap up with prayer.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.09.00

Meal time

It’s been a hard moment of no movement but it’s been a great time for bonding. We have learned much about being together for the last month on a daily basis. We also get simple exercises since we are prohibited from moving far from homes.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.08.58

Staring at nature.

We have also mobilized foodstuffs for 3 vulnerable families in our community and 2 distant families. The distant families are the triplets and the Oldman George from Mitooma in Western Uganda. Since we don’t know when the lockdown is ending, we request friends to pray for us not to lack. Our children in Karamoja are in a dare situation, so they need prayer for God’s intervention so that we may lose them due to hunger.

Mugabi Isaac’s Family.

We have a young family of 2 boys, Sharma, 4 and Timothy, 2 with Sharma doing his first year in nursery school, and Mercy my wife doing her first year at University.

Our day starts as early as 7am but in intervals, with Mercy and I getting up first and plan and prepare for the day, while the boys join us at about 8am for breakfast.

I am usually quite engaged for most of the day in research and planning for my new business setup and some software development work as the boys do what they do best, video games, while Mercy does the cooking (for most of the days) and some reading after.

Isaac

The Mugabis

The evening time has always been meet-up time to pray as a family and share on a number of things including the word of God.

We continue praying to God for provision in these trying times.

Dan Muwanguzi’s Family.

The ideal day for the Muwanguzi family during these days. I usually wake up around 6am, go to my home office and usually start my quiet time (bible study, meditation/prayer until 8am.

Princess and the boys join me at 8am and we spend an hour in the bible study, prayer for our selves and friends, and then discuss any other educative/discipline stuff. Afterward, we share a cup of tea/coffee as Miriam and Timothy also join us a bit later to continue starting off the day together.

IMG_20200423_090814_7

(L-R) David, Jonathan, Mike and Princess for the Morning devotion.

At 10am, I communicate with about 7 of my student pastors plus 3 co-CTBS teachers to work on the C-TBS assignments for those 7, at times sharing about the COVID-19 challenges in different communities, receive prayer requests from various churches/individuals which are mostly around food/provision and health of any family.

In the afternoons, the kids are doing their schoolwork/personal studies, Miriam joins the kitchen crew and by 2pm I get back into my personal studies, communication, and any other CMM related work.

At around 5, we as a family get back again together chatting/informal discussions. The evening is TV/News plus good nights.

Prayer requests.

We are currently faced with a challenge of many of our friends, neighbors, co-workers, relatives, single mothers, the elderly, etc who stopped earning weeks back because of the lockdown yet Ugandan families are big.

Every day, we are receiving either phone-calls, visits, or text messages needing help along food/medicine lines, genuine yet many. We usually respond to the best that we can and will appreciate prayers along those lines for us and Uganda at large.

We thank you all for your continuous prayers and support to us. We too are praying for you more especially during this COVID-19 season.

C-TBS Pastors’ class

February and early March, all our C-TBS usual programs were running well but like all other businesses in Uganda, we have put down most of the tools for the next day 25 days first in obedience to the government given COVID-19 management guidelines.

As you could be aware, the Uganda government has closed all schools, church gatherings, all shops/stores except for stores selling foodstuffs, all vehicles cannot move except a few government official cars. We are therefore very much restricted to stay indoors for a period of 20 days as the government monitors the situation.

The Muwanguzi family.

Both schools (OT and NT) bible classes started on the 2nd weekend of March. The NT class at Bweyogerere started with 33 students from 7 different churches and the OT class at deliverance church Mukono had started with 17 students from 4 different churches. We are currently in touch with most of our students on phone, encouraging each other in prayer and reading / studying the scriptures.

We continue to pray and seek the Lord in regard to the current situation. Please continue to pray with us more especially in our context where many are not working yet feeding and other necessities have to continue. There’s already cries from many different families more especially for food and other daily needs. May the Lord be with you and continue to keep you well. We also love you and thank you so much for being part of us and supporting the work of God here in Uganda.

November – December Update

We praise the Almighty God for the far He has bought us and we say Ebeneezer. God granted us an opportunity to minister to the souls of many and reach to them with the acts of Great
love.

LIRA DENTAL OUTREACH.

Lira is found in Northern Uganda 324km from Kampala City. It’s a district composed of low income earning peasants. Lira city is the capital of Lango sub region which is surrounded by districts like Dokoro, Aleptong, Oyam and Apac districts. The people from that region are called the Langi. In this outreach, we fully sponsored the medical part and our partner, Pastor Aguma Basil of Saints Harvest Church helped with our welfare. We worked on 154 dental cases for (2) two days on 15th and 16th November 2019 with 4 dentists. Many of the above cases were extractions with few cases of referral. Being in urban setting. Many people were coming from the above mentioned neighboring districts.

Its inhabitants are Bakonzho. We got a report that many pastors who occupy the Mountain lack Bibles. So we responded by giving 40 Bibles as a Christmas gift to 40 churches. Some pastors walked 16 miles to come and receive Bibles. It was Joy immeasurable for that part of the village. We hope to visit them again and add more Church Bibles and Minister to them medically.

C-TBS CLASS UPDATE.

By the time we graduated the O.T and N’T classes late October / Early November, we had started a new class This consists of only pastors all from around bweyogerere. A good number of pastors in this area had already done the C-TBS, but the other remaining ones requested that we meet with and teach them every Tuesday from 8am to 10am. We have been with this group since the beginning of November.

A bunch of 26 pastors who are currently learning the inductive approach and studying the new testament.

We have received very encouraging testimonies, many had never read or preached from the book of philemon until of recent when they went through this book with us.

One of the pastors had started writing a book and had given up but three weeks in their course, she picked on where she had left her book two years ago. She says that this course opened her eyes and simplified her approach in continuing with her book.

Many are now confessing that their approach in searching for Sunday sermons has changed as they now have plenty to preach and teach in their churches.

We as staff are finding this a very interesting class as we interact with individuals on a regular basis as they can right away relate what is going on in their churches, and communities etc.

ctbs

The pastors’ class.

Please keep us in your prayers with this on going class.

And now around this time, we are also starting to visit different churches and encourage all church ministries to join our expected 2 bible classes due to start beginning of March.

CMM staff members are out doing many things, ministering in prisons, hospitals, schools, churches, children, praying and encouraging individuals.

We thank all our friends who are standing with us in prayers and supporting this work financially. May the Lord richly bless you.

Happy new year.

October Update.

October was a very busy month with a number of activities around the country. We saw the hand of God in the prisons, villages, churches, and school ministries. This time round, CMM was blessed to host members from TUPS (David, Linda, Emily, Pr. Jeff and Ric) who took part in all the above activities.

BUYUKI MEDICAL OUTREACH.

We had a great ministry in the Buyuki community. Buyuki is found in Luwero district 54km North of Kampala along Gulu highway. The outreach took place on 29th Oct. and 295 people were worked on. The outreach had Dental services, Eye services, Cancer screening, and sensitization services, Diabetes and High Blood pressure screening services.

PhotoGrid_1574189231293

.

Dental Services;

In partnership with a team of 22 dental students from Mulago Dental school headed by Allan Akankwasa, CMM and TUPS helped treat community members with dental problems. We worked on 112 patients who got services like extraction, scaling and dental sensitization. David from the TUPs team was on the support staff, Emily and Rick did the dispensing of drugs. Linda helped in cleaning and sterilizing the forceps. All the patients were worked on.

PhotoGrid_1574189400533

.

Eye treatment Services;

The eye treatment services were given by the assistance of ‘Guardian Optics’ found in Kampala along Martin road. The team was headed by Mr. Sonko Elvis and we worked on 42 patients who were given reading glasses and eye drops at a subsidiary price. 15 of them were given free reading glasses because they couldn’t afford the cost at all.

PhotoGrid_1574190005341

.

Cancer Screening Services;

Ric and David preached the love of Christ and 68 gave their lives to Christ. We also shared with them sodas and cakes including the prison offers. We also gave each lady a packet of sanitary pads. All that was possible because of the good heart of the TUPS team.

The new testament class which has been running since March graduated on Sunday 27th/October/2019 with 19 students from 5 different churches. The occasion took place in a Sunday church service at Mukono Deliverance church. This is a time of celebration and good testimonies from the students who have been working so hard studying inductively every book of the new testament.

The TUPS team from Victoria Canada were our guests of honor on that day and they gave out certificates to the graduands.

Afterward, we shared a meal with the students and their guests.

The O.T class, on the other hand, had 13 of the students that successfully completed the study of the old testament. This class was running at God’s center of blessings Chruch but the 13 students came from 4 different churches.

The occasion took place during a Sunday church service on 10th/October/2019.

We are so grateful to the Lord for the contribution of these bibles courses towards the discipleship of the Nation of Uganda.

Training of pastors and ministers at their locations allows them to continue with their routine work as they study each book of the Bible using the inductive approach. This is such a powerful and very effective discipleship tool in our churches today.

We are so thankful to the Lord for all the friends that stand with us in prayers and financially as this enables us as staff to continue doing our work more effectively.

Thank you so much.

September Update

Karamoja Ministry

Christian Model Ministries together with Divine Care Ministries went to Karamoja for two weeks.  The total number of missioners was 76. We camped at Koblin in Napak district for 4 days. Koblin is the resettlement area for street children got from Kampala and other cities, rehabilitated before sending them back to their respective homes or schools. Those four days were for fasting and prayers, seeking God for direction and spiritual mapping. We later dispersed to different directions into 7 groups.

Traveling to Karamoja

The entire team comprised of 16 members and we went to a village called DUOL. It is a very virgin place for the gospel. The place has no church, shop, school..

Morning Devotion

Each day had a different arrangement that ranged from discipleship, door to door evangelism, Children ministry, women groups, men meetings, open-air gospel crusades and one on one canceling.

Traveling to remote areas for evangelism.

While visiting the Manyattas (communities), we realized that people were in the bounty harvest for crops like maize (corn), sunflower, and sorghum (their staple food). Their cows were also looking good and giving them milk, in other words, there was no famine that whole year which is quite uncommon.

Having a good time with the kids

We spent 10 days in DUOL and we achieved the following;

  • 169 people came to Christ.
  • We started four home churches and another congregational church to combine all.
  • 37 people were descipled to will run the home churches and pastor the community.
  • A model pit latrine for the community in Nasinyonoit was constructed. The community of 80 people was using the bush, so they promised to build more pit latrines for hygiene.
  • Prayed for different people for healing and deliverance.
  • We reconciled communities and families who were at war.

Dental ministry.

That place has so many vulnerable people who live a low-class life in slums and such services are so hard for them to reach. We attended to 31 people with extractions and referrals. 3 people came to Christ as a result.

Police Ministry.

With a theme of forgiveness as read in Mathew 18:21-32, CMM visited Seeta police post twice in the month of September. We realized that the theme carried heavy deliverance into the lives of the suspects.

One particular suspect was 21 years old by the names of Ssemakula Moses. He came to know his biological father two years ago after being abandoned since his childhood. He feels so bitter for his biological dad for not being considerate and throwing him to another family. And to his mom for hiding a precious secret for all that long. His question was; ‘Can I forgive such people?’ By God’s grace, he accepted Jesus in tears and forgave his parents.

C-TBS Class.

End of October is usually an exciting time for the C-TBS classes. Both classes will be winding up and graduating.

27th-October, the Mukono N.T class will be graduating and the graduation occasion will take place at Mukono Deliverance church. Currently, this class is winding up with the study of the book of revelation.

The old testament class is completing their studies on the books of the “minor prophets” and this class will be graduating on the 10th of November.

The pastors’ class at Bweyogerere.

Some few months back, The Bweyogerere pastors that meet every Tuesday morning, This group of pastors invited us (C-TBS) to take them through this course. The idea is that they (the senior pastors) would be trained by themselves and not mix them with any of their junior ministers.

5 weeks ago, we started this exciting bible class with this group of pastors and it is going on well.

Please keep praying for this bunch of 27 pastors. Each of them has a big congregation he is heading. We are now looking at the bible training course making a big impact on so many congregations in the whole area of Bweyogerere and Kira.

August Update.

We praise God for yet another month (the month of August) that was full of great activities/ministries. Like the previous months, August had more of prison ministry.

KASANGATI PRISON

Kasangati is frequently visited because the prison administrators gave us a wide reception. Our permission is just a call away. During the previous visits, the prison administrators told us that the problem they have is hygiene and so we could help them with soap and sanitary pads for women. So the Lord gave us the word of knowledge towards the problem by making reusable sanitary pads. Luckily enough, some of our very own CMM members knew how to make them so we had to purchase the materials for teaching the prison women how to make sanitary pads. So on 8th August 2019, we went to Kasangati prison and trained them on how to make their own sanitary pads. 23 prisoners and 2 prison officers learned. Amidst training, the gospel of hope was being preached.

KALANGALA PRISON

Kalangala district is an island district and geographically under the not easy to reach areas of Uganda both in social services and the gospel. The Lord prompted us to visit the prisoners as we look for other avenues of the gospel in that land. We traveled on the ferry on 9th August 23, 2019. While on the ferry, we preached the gospel to some of the passengers. Along the whole journey, God spoke to us and we saw great opportunities for the gospel. The next day we went to the prison and found out that it comprised of very traumatized and hard criminals arrested from other neighboring islands, landing sites, and the mainland. We preached the gospel of forgiveness in Matthew 18 and 16prisoners gave their lives to Christ, 6 confessed their sins loud and clear to their fellow prisoners. We donated to them 15 Bibles and 2 boxes of soap, each containing 25 bars.

SEETA POLICE STATION

Seeta has been a blessing to our ministry We’ve been able to preach to them weekly and 34 souls have come to Christ. Each visit has been blessed with a cup of tea and snack for each of the suspects courtesy of Christian Model Ministries.

NTINDA POLICE STATION

Ntinda police station is in Kampala city in Nakawa Division. We visited them on 26th august and we preached the gospel of love and forgiveness to the suspects. 5 people gave their lives to Christ. We give all the glory to Jesus. We gave them 2 bibles to help in reviving the prayer lives. It was our first visit and the police administration gave us the open door.

KIBANGA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Around 120 girls from upper primary learned and were each given 2 free reusable sanitary pads. During the training, the gospel was preached and 75 girls gave their lives to Christ. The school administration requested us to come in more often.

C-TBS Class

The OT and NT 2019 bible classes have been running since March 2019 and both classes will be ending by the end of October.
The OT class completed the major prophets and now working on the 12 “minor prophets”.
The NT is currently studying the book of Hebrews, to be followed by a few other epistles, then finally the book of revelation.
Both classes continue to be exciting and with students having many encouraging testimonies in regards to the training.

C-TBS Report

The old testament class

This class is currently studying (and near completion) 1 +2 Kings. These as mentioned before are studied as one book. Just because 2nd kings is a continuation of the 1st kings story.

2nd kings has been so exciting, eye opening to our students. For the students to be able to relate the back ground information like the captivities of Israel and Judah by Syria + Babylon, the years when those events are taking place, the prophets and their timely messages to both Israel and Judah at different times and how all this relates with the other prophets books etc. It has been such a big eye opener and interesting lesson to our class around this time.

The New testament class

Here we completed the study of the book of Romans and currently just concluded 1+2 Corinthians. Our students especially having studied the book of Acts are now getting a lot more from the study of the Epistles.

Both classes are exciting and interesting. Please keep praying for these classes for the students and staff in any way the Lord may lead you.

The CMM Sponsored Children

These are soon taking a three weeks break which will lead into the third and final term for this year. We are receiving very positive and encouraging feedback in regards to the performance of all the CMM sponsored children.

We have had some few cases children getting sick during the 2nd term mostly wit typhoid and Malaria but God is good, they are all well and continuing with their studies.
