It’s on record that we took them the first bibles to that prison which will help 587 prisoners.

2.Kiburara government prison farm:

We visited the Station on 7th October and found 24 suspects; 21men, and 3women.
We preached to them and 18 gave their lives to Christ. The Holyspirt manifested greatly in the cells and
many were delivered from the demons.
We donated 8 bibles to them for advancing the work of God in the police station.

6.Seeta Police Station:

God has given us the grace to keep going to Seeta police station on a weekly basis. The wide door opened to us has led many souls to Christ on every visit. The month of October has led 42 souls to Christ.

7.Kiwatule Police Station:

CHILDREN MINISTRY

We thank God for the children ministry that has continued to advance in great power. The children are no longer waiting for the Sunday fellowship, we have organized weekly fellowship any time of the day.
They even organize themselves and do praise and worship and recite the scriptures they learnt the previous Sunday. Sunday has now become the day of celebration, adding more knowledge of the Word and scriptural assignments. We have included in sports in the Sunday program to break routine. We sub divide them into 2 groups (2yrs-5yrs and 6yrs-10yrs). Each of the small groups are catered for differently due to their learning abilities. The 2-5yrs group are usually engaged with playing bible games, singing, shading bible pictures and storytelling. The 6-10yrs are able to read the bible, ask questions and answer questions. They also like singing, poetry, rhyming and bible quiz. Each Sunday has a topic which gives them assignments.
We thank God for the grace that has made it easier and opened the door for us to serve.

CMM CHILDREN

Due to extended lockdown for schools, we decided to help our kids with some study time. This came after some students became redundant which was going to result to bad behavior. During the study session, they are equipped with formal knowledge, informal knowledge ( skills)
and the word of God. We expect to handle this session till the children return to school in January 2021. The kids have gained a lot through this month and the parents and guardians are happy about the move.

YOUTH

The youth ministry as earlier mention is targeting the maids (domestic workers) in our vicinity, and High school youth who are 16yrs and above.
The number we had targeted was 7, but now they have increased to 12. They mainly meet once a week; 5pm on Sunday. We mainly 3 languages of communication; Luganda, English and Runyankole Rukiga. All the youth were given personal bibles. We found it prudent to minister to the youth in Namugongo and Kagoma being the place with our easy access.
The youth have given us the great reception and have showed great hunger for the Word of God. Each of the sessions we have had has paused a great challenge and enthusiasm to meet more youth.
We thank God for the open hearts towards the word of God.

BUTALEJJA END OF YEAR MISSIONS

Around this time, CMM starts focusing more on the end of year missions in Butalejja. We have started meeting, praying, brainstorming and planning for this 2020/2021 Butalejja mission. Teams will be visiting and ministering but observing all COVID-19 prevention government given guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. We will not be able to run our usual Open Air Gospel but we shall be; -Visiting and ministering in different community churches. -meet and pray with individuals. -Pray with and minister to children in smaller manageable numbers and many other activities. Please keep praying with us as we plan this End of year missions.

We are always grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to be part of what of he is doing in this Nation and we thank all our friends/co-workers who are standing with us to continue in ministry.

God bless.

September 2020

We praise God for the grace that helped us, September has seen so many people come to Christ in prisons and police stations. Below are some of the police stations that were visited and the prison.

PRISON MINISTRY

SSENTEMA PRISON: Ssentama prison is located in Kakiri town council 37km along Hoima Rd in Wakiso district. It houses 636 prisoners at the time of visiting. We donated 20 bibles to help the prisoners access the word of God. We were not allowed to access the prisoners due to the restrict measures set by the government. The prison administration confessed to us that they were lacking the bibles meaning we were the first to donate to them.

KAKIRI POLICE STATION: Kakiri police station is found in Kakiri police station is also found in Kakiri Town Council along Hoima Rd Wakiso district 37km from Kampala city. The police station Officer in Charge welcomed us warmly and helped us to understand the challenges they face in the community which include corruption in their bosses, mistrust from the community, poverty, unemployment and many others. We were able to donate 10 bibles to help and guide them in reducing the crime rate. Statistically they handle 35 people daily and more meaning our bibles will reach 110 people in a month and close to 12,000people in a year.

SEETA POLICE STATION: Seeta police station is located 18km from Kampala city along Jinja Rd in Mukono district. The station opened doors to our ministry and no one can access their cells except at our recommendation. Each week we visit we see the mighty hand of God changing lives and reconciliation with families. This month we preached to close to 130 people and 46 came to Christ.

ENTEBBE CENTRAL POLICE STATION: Entebbe central police station is found in Entebbe city close to the international airport. The station by its nature is so security sensitive and very conscious. The station was having 42 suspects by the time of visiting and all classified as dangerous. According to the hierarchy, it’s like a referral where other stations refer their dangerous suspects. We donated 8 bibles.

ABAYITA ABABIRI POLICE STATION: The above station is found few miles from Entebbe city. It’s one of the growing towns along Entebbe road. With development in Uganda, it goes along with crime rates shooting. The police station handles such crimes that comes along developing syndrome. We were blessed to visit them also on 22nd September and donated 4 bibles. The cells had 15 suspects at the time of visiting.

CHILDREN MINISTRY

Our team has been meeting with and ministering to the children each Sunday. The Hand of God in children, understanding the scriptures and change of behaviors as testified by their parents. Rachel and Molly have nurtured the kids and explained the scriptures depending on the ages. The kids below 5 yrs have been given printed work for coloring and this has motivated their attendance.

Rachel Praying with the children and Richard exercising with them

YOUTH MINISTRY

This month we identified a group of youth in our vicinity who were not ministered to. These included the neighbor’s youth and maids whose age is between 17yrs to 23yrs. We begun a fellowship has picked up steadily. Each of the 7 youths was given a personal bible depending on their favorite language (Luganda, English and Runyankore-Rukiga ). They promised to call their friends who are near each Sunday evening until schools resume.

Rachel ministering to the Youth

WOMEN MINISTRY The women ministry has resumed after a long lockdown. The target group of women are widows, single mothers, and other less privileged women. In Uganda, that class of women has remained vulnerable and are prone to all kinds of abuses. We decided as the ministry to develop activities that can minister to their spiritual, social, psychological and financial needs. This has helped us to minister the word of God to them easily due to the developing relationship. Due to the situation in Uganda and the rest of the world, we decided to work with small groups of women. This month we Learnt to make things from soy which include; milk, coffee, animal feeds and doughnuts from the residues. This will improve their family nutrition and help them to start an income generating activity which will help support them financially. This month we begun with 6 women but we expect the number to increase as time goes on. We don’t take all the above for granted because not by power nor by might but by the spirit of God. Zech 4:6

Church Based Training in Biblical Studies (C-TBS)

In the past years around this time, we would be looking forward to passing out(Graduate) students from the New Testament and the Old Testament classes. But this year, both classes stopped in March a few weeks after setting off. Later in July, some of the Old Testament students resumed their studies on correspondence. We have been sending them printed materials to study by them selves as guidance so that they can keep going. This too has been with some challenges as we could not keep the same studying pace as before and the other challenge we had is ministers/Pastors try to survive during the lockdown due to COVID’19. Some had to shift/change locations when trying to find something to do to keep their families alive. So these students have done their best in the C-TBS but could only do as much as they are giving priority to their families making sure they survive during this period. We will be able to draw a better organized C-TBS program for both Schools next year. For now we keep encouraging those that can maintain their C-TBS-O.T work at their pace and those who have maintained have benefitted a lot and are giving us very encouraging feedback. Some students we have interacted with during this period have clearly expressed that the continuation of the inductive Bible Study during this period has helped them a lot and simplified some of the challenges that came with the COVID’19 season. It’s always encouraging to us to listen to such and more testimonies from our students.

2019 C-TBS GRADUATION

We thank God for all the above ministries that he refreshed our lives. We hope to move further than the past by God’s grace. God bless you all. CMM

August 2020

THE SBS and C-TBS (Journey in Brief)

A few days ago,my good friend/co-worker Andrew Kiwanuka and i were invited by the School of Biblical Studies (YWAM/ SBS) in Jinja to share with them and talk about the Genesis of the school of Biblical Studies in Uganda. We had a chance to look back(1989) and summarize that long story to encourage the young women and men as we together continue to serving God in the field of Biblical Studies.

So many things came up, one was the fact that the school has produced so many leaders within Uganda and Internationally in different capacities and in all areas of influence,Pastors,Missionaries,Social Workers,Educationists and many more. Our graduates for all the years have in turn touched and impacted many individuals in many communities. I also remembered and shared my story how i joined this training program,it is now about 33 years when i heard the inner voice that spoke to me” to study and teach the bible for the rest of my life“. That voice/conviction was difficult to believe then especially given the fact that the bible is only 66 books to become a full time calling for life. But our God is all knowing up to today, since 1989, studying and teaching the inductive approach in bible study has been and is my priority. I am thankful to God for making me part of this and also thankful to Him for bringing along so many other friends,co workers who have been and are part of this training these many years.God is good. Many thanks to all our prayer partners and co workers in this field of Biblical Studies.

FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS

We have been able to reach some families with food donations and supplies thanks to you our partners, supporters and co-workers.

PRISON OUTREACHES

August 2020 has been a month of wonders and miracles in our ministry. Many doors have continued to open in prison ministry amidst the raising cases of covid19 in our country. We thank God for the grace that has taken us through lots of challenges but made us stronger than never before.

MUYINAINA PRISON: We visited Muyinaina prison that is found in Mubende district which 162km west of Kampala. located 43km away from Mubende town heading to the new district called Kasambya. The prison is famous for incarcerating hard core criminals that are subjected to hard labor in farms and quarries. I was introduced to that particular prison by one of the people I preached to and he came to Christ who had been imprisoned there.

KITARYA PRISON: Kitarya prison is located in Mityana district which is 58km West of Kampala. We donated 20 Luganda bibles it housed close 3200 prisoners who are picked from Kampala, Wakiso, and Mityana districts. Most of the current prisoners in that particular prison, are people who defied covid 19 presidential directives. It’s currently housing many nationalities who were caught under that case.

MUBENDE CENTRAL POLICE STATION: We also visited the above station and were given a chance to speak to the suspects. 13 suspects gave their lives came to Christ. In the same spirit we donated 5 bibles to help in the discipleship

SEETA POLICE STATION: Seeta Police Station has been highly visited weekly and the management has been so receptive of the gospel. This week we month we added them 2 English bibles to cater for Non Luganda speakers. In the August, 32 souls came to Christ at SEETA Police Station. We glorify the Lord for the bounty harvest.

KATOOKE POLICE STATION: It’s located in the fast growing slum where the crime rate is growing rapidly. So as the church we step in to preach the word of God to them. Many of the crime committers are  youth who are highly unemployed. Katooke police station houses 20 and above suspects on a daily basis who are got from Jinja Kalori, Wamara, Katooke, Kisimu and other neighboring places. We donated 5 Luganda bibles to the station.

JULY 2020

Greetings and blessings to all our friends and co-workers from the Uganda CMM Team. We thank you for your continuous prayers and support for the CMM work in Uganda. This is our July Report.

C-TBS

The C-TBS  like all churches in Uganda are earnestly praying for the churches to be opened.But meanwhile ,our C-TBS  program have resumed at a slow pace.we pass on printed lecture notes and other needed materials to the students of the Old Testament class in Mukono. Some of our students have expressed that they still miss out on the class interactions,asking questions,discussing various bible topics and the fellowship we usually have in a class setting. They still do their course assignments and return their work to us for marking.  There is hope that the churches will soon be opened and we will get back into our usual class settings during the lectures. Here is a testimony from one of our Old Testament students;

Joel Waiswa is one of the Elders of Zion Church in Mukono and has been a minister for many years. He completed the New Testament C-TBS class last year and joined the Old Testament class this Year.

songolo

Joel Waiswa An Elder of Zion Church in Mukono.

Studying the scriptures inductively has by far widened my understanding of the word of God and the way I preach and teach. The inductive approach has helped me to see many bible principles in all areas of life and in areas that govern the society.

The many years I had studied the bible and served as a minister were good but during this course I realised that I had only utilised a very small percentage of the bible.

The course has helped me a lot by opening my eyes to the many riches I had missed out in my many previous years of study and ministry. I now feel more comfortable and confident when preaching and teaching the word of God to the church”.

OUTREACHES

RUKUNGIRI PRISON.

On 2nd August, 2020, we visited the above prison facility. This is found in South Western Uganda 473Km from Kampala city. The prison facility houses 511 prisoners of which 22 are women. One of the women committed murder (arsonist). She burnt her husband in the house in the marriage she had spent 42yrs. We preached to her and she gave her life to Christ and we gave her a personal bible.  The prison wardens were very happy and requested us to give them personal bibles for their families and personal devotion. That has been a request in all prisons and we need to look into it since the prison wardens are few.

The Lord opened for us another door for preaching to the same in prison/police cells. We managed to visit 2 police stations; Kiira police station and Bweyogerere police station. Both of the above accommodate 45 suspects per day. We gave  5bibles  to Bweyogerere and 10 bibles to kiira police station. MAY 2020

C-TBS

During the lock down, the C-TBS has been active but to a minimal percentage. Only 7 of our students have been able to continue with their school work, mainly because they have access to computers,so they can receive, read and send back information to us by emailing and other means.

During this month of June we( C-TBS Staff) have been holding meetings to pray/discuss how we can better include a bigger number back into their bible study work. And starting July, the Old Testament class in Mukono will be able to resume their classes as we also start looking at the New Testament class that we run at Bweyogerere.

The New Testament class needs more time in classroom teaching and one on one interactions as we had just introduced them to the inductive approach when we where locked down.

Few days after the Lock down was announced in Uganda, there was a lot of panic and anxiety in most families in Uganda mainly because of the parents concern about how they were to feed their families. CMM through our friends (Supporters)has been able to help purchase and give some amounts of food mostly to the parents/families of our CMM sponsored children. This has been appreciated so much by the mothers and grand mothers and our CMM children.

April Update.

We CMM always thank God for all our friends/ co-workers in Christ for your continuous love, support, and encouragement to us. God has always used you to encourage us to reach out to our brothers and sisters here in Uganda, and we pray that even in this period of COVID-19 the hand of God will always be upon you, your families, and relatives to protect you and to keep you well.

Last month, in our report, we did present to you a brief idea as to how some of our CMM members are doing and how they spend their day.

On top of us spending more time with our families, all our members are in touch with other church members too regularly communicating and praying together in small allowed groups, on the phone, Emails, and other communication means.

As we report today, The COVID 19 positive cases are 230, 63 have recovered well.

All the latest cases are coming in mostly because of the Truck drivers bringing in cargo in and out from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan.

Our main concern today would be that the positive cases remain small so that they do not overwhelm the Ugandan Health System.

We reported last time, the need for food mostly and other basic needs for most families. Most of our people here can only cater for one day’s needs and only if they are working. Now its 2months since the Lockdown, The biggest cry for most of the people are food mostly and basic needs. The day most people stopped working, they stopped earning therefore many are in the food crisis.

Will you please pray for us too along those lines.

CMM children receiving foodstuffs

We as CMM are working together with our co-workers in Victoria-Canada. The Uganda partnership society (TUPS) have so far been able to help buy some but minimal amounts of food to mostly the families where our CMM sponsored kids come from. This help has been so much appreciated by our mothers and grandmothers that take care of our CMM sponsored children.

It is still our desire and prayer that we will continue to help even more as much as the Lord will enable us. Please keep praying with us along those lines too.

C-T.B.S

By March 2020

We were running three Bible classes in different locations with altogether more than 55 students. Some in the Old testament and others in New testament.

When the lockdown started around 20th March, the N.T class could not continue at all as the students were still very much in their primary stages of understanding the “inductive approach” and hey very much needed a lot of one to one guidance on top of the class lectures. So the N.T was put completely on hold.

Among the O.T students, 7 have continued to do their work mostly by themselves but with some help with either E.mail, phone calls o other means of communication. And those who have continued is mostly because they have access to a computer and therefore they can receive information, read/study and keep going.

Dan doing his personal studies / C-TBS work at his office.

We are receiving very encouraging feedback from this group yet it is our prayer that the lockdown will end soon so we can catch up with our other students too. We have followed the work of these 7 and it is very impressive.

And on top of grading their work and communicating with them, we always/ regularly share prayer needs for them and their flocks since they are pastors of different churches.

And mostly our discussions and prayers are along lines of food or medical needs for this or that family. And as we discuss and pray, in some desperate cases we have tried and raised help to some of such families.

Please keep praying for these and other pastors too along those lines. And we pray that the Lord will continue to keep you and your families safe and growing in Him.

With greetings and appreciation from all our CMM  team members.

God bless.

March Additional Update.

Greetings to all our friends/co-workers. As you will be aware, Uganda like many other countries is on the lockdown therefore very few essential activities can take place nationwide.

We too, as the CMM team to a big extent spend most of our time at home. In this report, we are letting you know how things are going on with some of our individual CMM families during the lockdown season.

Kato Edward’s Family.

Our family is comprised of 5 members; Kato Edward, Nambatya Diana Kato, Namata Abigail Earon, Muwanguzi Hansen Ssenyondo, Nabirye Janipher.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-23 at 13.21.58

The Katos.

Since March, we are at home since its lockdown all over the country. We use most of this time to bond with the children since we were a bit busy before the lockdown. We get time to pray, play, and do different things together.

At first, Diana was too much scared about this COVID-19 until we heard a message from the pastor at Watoto that “Jesus Christ is above all thing and will surely take us through so be strong”.

In order to keep ourselves safe, we pray for our health, we boost our vitamin B by drinking lemon juice and eating fruits. We always sanitize, wash our hands, and stay at home.

What we have been doing is praying for others and helping some people financially with the little that we have.

Our prayer request is that God continues to provide for our family through this trying moment.

Byamugisha Richard’s Family.

Thank God the lockdown announcement found us all home as a family otherwise it’s been complicated for those that traveled since they’ve had to stay where they are until circumstances change.

Much of the time has been for personal reflection and family ministry. Since the Lockdown crisis, we laid a program for a family alter, personal prayer time, bible study, playtime, home chores, and online ministry.

Family time.

Since my family is very young, we start our day with the family alter at 7am. Each adult member has a day to share the word from the bible, that’s Mary, Isaac, my wife Molly, and myself. We then share prayer requests and end the prayer time.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.08.59

Prayer time.

We then embark on Breakfast which is normally at 8:30am. Mary and Isaac go for home classes which are supervised by either me or my wife. The class usually takes 2hrs and they join their friends to play. Our vicinity is comprised of staff members, where my wife Molly teaches, with their families. So we have a total of 12 children in one location. Luckily we all agreed on the health standards for that crisis. We usually have a clear program of lunch and supper till evening where we converge at 8pm and wrap up with prayer.

Meal time

It’s been a hard moment of no movement but it’s been a great time for bonding. We have learned much about being together for the last month on a daily basis. We also get simple exercises since we are prohibited from moving far from homes.

WhatsApp Image 2020-04-22 at 15.08.58

Staring at nature.

We have also mobilized foodstuffs for 3 vulnerable families in our community and 2 distant families. The distant families are the triplets and the Oldman George from Mitooma in Western Uganda. Since we don’t know when the lockdown is ending, we request friends to pray for us not to lack. Our children in Karamoja are in a dare situation, so they need prayer for God’s intervention so that we may lose them due to hunger.

Mugabi Isaac’s Family.

We have a young family of 2 boys, Sharma, 4 and Timothy, 2 with Sharma doing his first year in nursery school, and Mercy my wife doing her first year at University.

Our day starts as early as 7am but in intervals, with Mercy and I getting up first and plan and prepare for the day, while the boys join us at about 8am for breakfast.

I am usually quite engaged for most of the day in research and planning for my new business setup and some software development work as the boys do what they do best, video games, while Mercy does the cooking (for most of the days) and some reading after.

Isaac

The Mugabis

The evening time has always been meet-up time to pray as a family and share on a number of things including the word of God.

We continue praying to God for provision in these trying times.

Dan Muwanguzi’s Family.

The ideal day for the Muwanguzi family during these days. I usually wake up around 6am, go to my home office and usually start my quiet time (bible study, meditation/prayer until 8am.

Princess and the boys join me at 8am and we spend an hour in the bible study, prayer for our selves and friends, and then discuss any other educative/discipline stuff. Afterward, we share a cup of tea/coffee as Miriam and Timothy also join us a bit later to continue starting off the day together.

IMG_20200423_090814_7

(L-R) David, Jonathan, Mike and Princess for the Morning devotion.

At 10am, I communicate with about 7 of my student pastors plus 3 co-CTBS teachers to work on the C-TBS assignments for those 7, at times sharing about the COVID-19 challenges in different communities, receive prayer requests from various churches/individuals which are mostly around food/provision and health of any family.

In the afternoons, the kids are doing their schoolwork/personal studies, Miriam joins the kitchen crew and by 2pm I get back into my personal studies, communication, and any other CMM related work.

At around 5, we as a family get back again together chatting/informal discussions. The evening is TV/News plus good nights.

Prayer requests.

We are currently faced with a challenge of many of our friends, neighbors, co-workers, relatives, single mothers, the elderly, etc who stopped earning weeks back because of the lockdown yet Ugandan families are big.

Every day, we are receiving either phone-calls, visits, or text messages needing help along food/medicine lines, genuine yet many. We usually respond to the best that we can and will appreciate prayers along those lines for us and Uganda at large.

The muwanguzis.

We thank you all for your continuous prayers and support to us. We too are praying for you more especially during this COVID-19 season.

Greetings to all our friends/co-workers in Christ. We the C-TBS staff team would like to thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement especially during these days where COVID-19 has presented such a big threat internationally.

Ctbs1

C-TBS Pastors’ class

February and early March, all our C-TBS usual programs were running well but like all other businesses in Uganda, we have put down most of the tools for the next day 25 days first in obedience to the government given COVID-19 management guidelines.

As you could be aware, the Uganda government has closed all schools, church gatherings, all shops/stores except for stores selling foodstuffs, all vehicles cannot move except a few government official cars. We are therefore very much restricted to stay indoors for a period of 20 days as the government monitors the situation.

The Muwanguzi family.

Both schools (OT and NT) bible classes started on the 2nd weekend of March. The NT class at Bweyogerere started with 33 students from 7 different churches and the OT class at deliverance church Mukono had started with 17 students from 4 different churches. We are currently in touch with most of our students on phone, encouraging each other in prayer and reading / studying the scriptures.

We continue to pray and seek the Lord in regard to the current situation. Please continue to pray with us more especially in our context where many are not working yet feeding and other necessities have to continue. There’s already cries from many different families more especially for food and other daily needs. May the Lord be with you and continue to keep you well. We also love you and thank you so much for being part of us and supporting the work of God here in Uganda.

Since January, the C-TBS staff have been involved in recruiting new students which exercise involves visiting different churches sharing about the benefits of attending these bible training courses.

During these weeks, we also hold regular meetings, praying together and planning the course-related materials and the individual staff start preparing themselves for the books they are going to teach.

Speaking at a church service about the C-TBS

Meanwhile, the pastors’ bible class has continued on well, we are now studying the book of Romans and have received very positive feedback / Testimonies from these pastors.

This has also given us more opportunities for recruiting more ministers that are under these senior pastors.
